Wieliczka Salt Mine – the Chambers
The Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the oldest of its kind in the entire world. The valuable minerals mined in it are not without reason referred to as “white gold”, as they have been contributing to the development of the Polish state for hundreds of years. The Wieliczka saltworks have been operating continuously since the 13th century and were added the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1978. It is no wonder then, that the vast mine annually attracts millions of tourists wishing to experience the amazing atmosphere of an underground salt city. With its lighting equipment and illumination design by Dr. Mirosław Sulma, ES-SYSTEM not only wanted to ensure proper safety for the visitors, but also to highlight the magic and historical importance of the place.
